Sitting down is something we do automatically every day. At first sight you are not aware of the huge work required for the construction of a chair, seemingly consisting of four wooden pieces only that are put together to form a chair. But back inclination, seat height and depth, arm shape and lines harmony are all essential details for sitting down comfortably.
Actually also the simplest frame is the final result of a whole series of ideas, projects and – above all – of intuitions coming from the experience.
We mainly use beech wood, seasoned for at least 10 months and properly dried in special stoves. Why the beech wood? Because the beech wood is homogeneous and heavy, elasticity-free but sturdy and, as it is white, this is the most suitable wood for all different polishing types. That's why these features make the beech wood perfect for furniture manufacture. Moreover processing rejects are an excellent fuel for the production of green energy. In addition beech trees grow relatively quickly, making reforestation possible rather shortly. And thanks to this latter feature it is possible to obtain a good value for money, protecting the environment at the same time.
Solidity and sturdiness are essential features characterizing a chair or an armchair. And here some essential steps in the manufacturing procedure come into play: joints and assembly.
Our joints are realized with the traditional mortise/tenon system:
This is the traditional junction method that guarantees excellent mechanical features and long life: so there is nothing to be surprised at, if chairs, armchairs and furniture manufactured with this method are structurally intact and rigid even after many years of use.
In some points, where it is necessary to guarantee a higher static character of the wood, finger joints are adopted and realized with special tools. In both cases the processing is performed by state-of-the-art machinery able to guarantee the utmost precision.
During the assembly phase specific glues with UNI ISO certification only are used: drying and penetration times of the product into the wood are always monitored carefully.
Afterwards, when the assembly phase is complete, some reinforcements (called cleats) are installed on the four corners of the seat to guarantee solidity and longer life.
